Choosing the best time to come can be incredibly difficult since each season, even down to specific weeks, will have something unique to offer. It is worth considering a number of different trips at various seasons to see the best of southern Israel's remarkable birds. Here we present a calendar of avian events that should help you decide which is the best time for you: All year -Breeding and non-breeding residents can be found in the southern desert regions year round including: Western Reef Heron, Greater Flamingo, Barbary Falcon, Chuckar, Sand Partridge, Houbara Bustard, Cream-coloured Courser, Spur-winged Plover, White-eyed Gull, Crowned, Lichtenstein's, Spotted, Pin-tailed, and Black-bellied Sand grouse, Palm Dove, Namaqua Dove, Eagle Owl, Hume's Tawny Owl, Nubian Night jar (nationally threatened), Pied Kingfisher, Syrian Woodpecker (Western Negev), Bar-tailed Desert, Desert and Hoopoe Larks, African Rock Martin, Yellow- vented Bulbul, Blackstart, Desert, Mourning, Hooded, and White-crowned Black -Wheatears, Scrub Warbler, Graceful Prinia, Clamorous Reed Warbler, Arabian Warbler, Arabian Babbler, Palestine Sunbird, Southern Grey Shrike, Indian House Crow, Brown-necked and Fan-tailed Ravens, Tristram's Grackle, Dead Sea Sparrow, Indian Silverbill, Desert and Trumpeter Finches, and House Bunting.
