Rules and Conditions of Entry
- The "Euro Challenge" bird quiz competition
commences officially on July 1st, 2003. The species
depicted are not restricted to those only
recorded and photographed in Israel. Any species
recorded within the European region can appear in our
pages
as a mystery photograph.
- For an indication of the area covered, which includes
over 800 bird species, please refer to the Collins/Princeton
field guide "Birds of Europe" 1999, by Svensson,
Mullarney et al.
- We shall post a new photo on the first day of each
month so that photo # 2 will be posted August
1st 2003 and so on. A reminder will appear in our monthly
newsletter.
- Although the photos will feature only species recorded
within the European region, the actual images themselves
could have potentially been taken on a more global
forum.
- The standard conditions of entry
for the new look Euro-challenge must include an absolute
minimum of:
- the scientific name,
as we accept that some of the English names
will vary and as a reminder,
- entries must be received
by
midnight
C.E.T on the last day of each month.
- The winner will require 10 straight correct answers
beginning with the "Euro Challenge" Stage
1 (July 1st 2003) and will receive a free week of
birding for two at Kibbutz Lotan Centre for Birdwatching.
- In the event of two or more entrants scoring 10 straight
correct identifications, the competition will run
until we have a clear winner with an unbroken series
of correct
answers.
- Entries can begin at anytime in the series, irrespective
of the stage of the current competition. The leading
contenders could potentially slip up at any time,
leaving the door open for the first person with the
next highest
score to reach the 10 straight correct answers.
- The competition is open to all, except for those
employed, either as salaried or volunteers at Kibbutz
Lotan Center
for Birdwatching.
- The competition prize is only valid as a holiday
and cannot be exchanged for cash.
- James P. Smith will referee the competition. His
decision will be final with a detailed answer to each
mystery
photo appearing on the birdingisrael website approximately
one week after the closing date of each stage of
the competition.
