Dear James,

We met at Lotan in the end of March 2002 and a few days later in a deep wadi with a pair of Hume's Owls serenading us. Full moon, totally calm and silent – except for the owls. A fantastic moment in life!

Here are some pictures I was able to get during our tour – colour slides and
videocam through telescope respectively – although I had to hold down my
photographing very much of course, concentrating on the group.

I was able to picture the Pied Bushchat when it was hiding it's ring.
The Black Scrub Robin might well have been a young male - brownish and
displaying.

The Houbara Bustard I filmed in it's slow-motion walk in Nizzana.
