Verreaux's Eagle returns
(13/01/2003)
Any day that includes the sighting of a Verreaux's Eagle has to be a good one, especially near Lotan. After sleeping on the initial hysteria surrounding yesterday's observation, to see the magnificent beast cruising in from the north at 10 am was still enough to get my heart racing! Better light, better conditions and a lighter wind all made for better observations and improved images. Only one individual made an appearance today, and then only in the morning when a Lanner Falcon was also seen in the same area. However, the views were thrilling and more than welcome after yesterday's views in cloudy conditions. We invite you to enjoy the mini-gallery of images of this truly rare
eagle.
