Migrant Stories #1 - Verreaux's Eagles at Lotan

Few birds have appeared higher on my 'wish list' of birds for the greater area of Lotan than Verreaux's Eagle Aquila verreauxii. This, the mother of all eagles is big and black, spectacular in shape, and a symbol of the last remaining wilderness areas in our southern deserts. Primarily an African raptor, it retains a foothold in the West Palearctic region chiefly in Sinai and South Jordan.

It is extremely rare, and despite my many hours of birding in suitable areas, today's observation was only my fourth in thirteen years of birding in Israel!
