Kurdish Wheatear, Neot Smadar 6-9/3/08.

We are happy to bring you some more nice images of the handsome male Kurdish Wheatear that spent 3 days at the Neot Smadar sewage complex.

With the bird arriving in the midst of our first major heat wave, getting good pictures was very difficult and often involved sitting in up to 32 degree temperatures for long periods of time. The wheatear had a consistent pattern during its stay, it tended to show up in the late morning and feed actively till mid afternoon. It would then disappear into the desert.

Enjoy the nice images courtesy of Amir.
